The Allahabad University, also called AU, is one of the most esteemed institutions of higher education across the nation. Established in 1887, this is an open central university and the 4th oldest university of India. Situated in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, it consists of five major faculties, namely Arts, Science, law, commerce and management.

This apex university offers several undergraduate, postgraduate, MPhil and D.Phil programmes along with Post Graduation Diploma courses. The university offers these programmes through its 11 constituent colleges. Moreover, it offers PhD in Business Management in alliance with Aligarh Muslim University. In 2017, the university was placed amongst the leading 100 universities in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework.

Admission Process

For admission in the university, candidates have to qualify its entrance examination followed with the interview. The admission process varies for different programmes offered by the university.

• Candidates have to qualify Under Graduate Admission Test (UGAT) to get admission in BSc, BA, BCom, BFA and BPA programmes.
• LFAT exam is conducted for admissions in BA-LLB, and LAT exam is conducted for admissions in LLB programmes by the university in case of law admissions.
• For MA, MPA, MSc, MTech, MFA and MPEd programmes, the university conducts Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT).
• BEd Admission Test results are considered to offer admission to BEd programme in the university.
• MBA (Rural Development) admissions required students to qualify in Written Test followed by group discussion and personal interview.
• For admission in MPhil and DPhil, candidates have to acquire a valid score in the Combined Research Entrance Test (CRET) which is followed by an interview.
• For admission in PhD (Business Administration) programme, candidates have to qualify the Research Management Aptitude Test (RMAT) organised by AIMA.
• CSIR NET/UGC NET or GATE qualified candidates have to appear in CRET organised by the university.

Students can look for the admission form online. Also, the university announces undergraduate and postgraduate entrance test results in June each year.

The university maintains a Placement Cell which is known to be the most preferred destination for forthcoming employers, looking for the skilled and bright human resource from diverse streams. It organises various personality development programmes, workshops and active sessions for the betterment of students.

It also works to bring employment opportunities for the students. The placement cell creates awareness and inclines towards recent and appropriate internship and job prospects to facilitate both on and off-campus placement opportunities.

Scholarship

The university offers education at a very less fee. Students can apply for UGC Scholarship, CSIR and Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship. Also, the university offers 5000/- JRF to all the D.Phil. enrolled students. BTech and MTech students can apply for GATE scholarship. Jawahar Bhawan Trust Scholarship is offered to students pursuing MA/MSc/ MCom/LAW.
