The  University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) dates back to the time when it was Anna Blake School. The school was established in 1891 and offered education in the fields of industrial arts and home economics. The state took over the school in 1909 and changed its name to Santa Barbara State Normal School. In 1921, it was renamed Santa Barbara State Teachers College and started growing its curriculum in the field of liberal arts. In 1944, the institute’s name was changed again to Santa Barbara College of the University of California until it was given its current name in 1958. Currently, the academic structure of the university consists of five schools. It holds the accreditation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

UC Santa Barbara is part of the 10-campus University of California system. It is one of the largest and most respected public universities in the world. Located on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the university campus is divided into four parts. The university has a high-quality infrastructure and provides students with numerous world-class facilities. Apart from the excellent academic amenities, the campus offers facilities for numerous sports like baseball, basketball, soccer, golf, swimming, cross country, tennis, track field, water polo, and volleyball.
