The University of California Davis (UC Davis) can be traced back to 1908 when the University Farm School was established as the science and research-based unit of UC Berkeley. The school started operating in 1909 with just 18 students. It was renamed the Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture in 1922. Its name was changed again to the College of Agriculture at Davis in 1938. The college grew into a general campus in 1959 and was given its current name. At present, the university’s academic structure comprises four colleges and seven schools. The university holds the accreditation of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
The university’s campuses, including the main academic campus, are located adjacent to the Davis city along Interstate 80 in Yolo County. UC Davis Health is situated in the state capital Sacramento. UC Davis also has other university properties and facilities across California and one in Nevada. Besides the first-class educational facilities like classrooms, auditoriums, library, and laboratories, the university campus also offers many recreational and sports facilities. It has racquetball and basketball courts, a climbing wall, equestrian center, an indoor track, a huge swimming pool, a bowling alley, a billiards area, a TV lounge, and a crafts center. The university also offers exceptional dining and housing services. Students are also provided with adequate parking space, transportation, and health services.
