The Ohio State University Established in 1870, is a public research university associated with APLU, BTAA, ORAU, and AAU. Earlier, the university was known as Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College. It was developed with an aim to train students in the field of agriculture and mechanical courses. In 1878, it was given the status of a university. It is known to be the ninth-largest University in Columbus. The university began its first classes in 1873 along with 24 students.

It is one of the largest universities in the US with campuses in Newark, Mansfield, Lima, Wooster, Marion, and Columbus. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level programs in their more than 200 academic centres and institutes. The academic structure of the university has various courses that are divided into 18 schools and colleges that give students a wide scope to choose according to their area of interest. Some of the well-known colleges are the College of Nursing, College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Public Health, College of Pharmacy, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Human Ecology, and the College of Optometry. Ohio State has been consistently ranked amongst the top higher educational institutes in the US.
