The Duke University was founded in the year 1838 by Quakers and Methodists in the present-day town of Trinity. It is a privately owned research university that was shifted in the year 1892 to Durham, North Carolina. The campus covers over 8,693 acres of land of three adjoining campuses in Durham and in Beaufort, there is a marine lab for students to explore.

Julian Abele designed the main campus incorporating Gothic architecture with Duke Chapel in the center of the campus. The east campus displays Georgian-style architecture while the west campus shows Gothic style. The university administers 12 institutes and schools among which only three comprise undergraduate courses, including Trinity College of Arts and Sciences, Duke Kunshan University and Pratt School of Engineering.

Duke University offers 53 majors and 52 minor programs which will allow the students to design and form their own major in engineering. The 23 certificate programs are also available by the university. Students, who are pursuing major, can also opt for a second major, minor or a certificate. As of 2019, student-body at Duke University comprises of over 9,569 Graduate & Professional Students and 6,526 undergraduates.

  • First-year students reside in 14 co-ed houses located on East Campus
  • Some of the houses are Alspaugh, Epworth, East House, Wilson, etc.
  • All halls are equipped with basic amenities like Air-conditioning, cable/phone, ethernet/wifi, flooring, furniture, room size, single-gender/co-ed including all services like cleaning supplies, housekeeping, mail, parking, etc.
  • Two meal plan options are available- Plan H & Plan I. If applicant does not select a dining plan, he/she will be automatically assigned Dining Plan H
