The Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU or CSJM University), formerly known as Kanpur University, is a public state university located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The University was established in 1966 when Agra University split into Agra and Kanpur universities. CSJMU is recognised by UGC and accredited by NAAC with Grade ‘B’. It is administered under the state legislature of the Government of Uttar Pradesh. It is one of the largest universities of Asia catering to urban and rural students offering professional and academic courses in various streams of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering, Biotechnology, Computer Applications, Management, Medicine and many more. There are a total of 274 affiliated colleges and institutes under CSJM University located at Allahabad, Aurraiya, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Hardoi, Kanpur-Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Kannauj, Lakhimpur, Raebareli, Sitapur and Unnao.
The main campus of CSJM University is spread across 264 acres with hostels, academic and administrative blocks. The University has a very famous residential wing that includes faculties of Life Sciences, Business Management, Education and English. However, the UG and PG programmes are offered in its 274 affiliated colleges and institutions across India. Admission Process
CSJM University admission process usually commences in May. Candidates willing to seek admission need to fill the application form in online mode through its official website. The University conducts an online entrance test to offer admission to many courses offered at UG and PG level. Apart from this, the University also accepts national-level scores to accept interested applicants for various courses. A detailed selection process followed at CSJM University is listed below:
For UG courses:
- CSJMU BTech and BPharm admission is offered based on UPSEE score, conducted by AKTU
- Candidates seeking admission in MBBS, MD Ayurveda and BDS programme need to have a valid score in NEET-UG
- For admission to BUMS, BAMS, and MS Ayurveda programme, a candidate needs to have an AYUSH Entrance Test score
- CSJM University BA admission is based on merit of Class 12
- Admission to remaining UG programmes is through an online entrance test conducted by CSJM University
For PG courses:
- MBA admission is based on UPSEE score obtained by eligible candidates
- MD and MS admission is based on a valid score in NEET PG, followed by a university-level counselling round

Scholarships
CSJM University offers financial assistance to economically weak students through mean-based scholarships funded by the University’s distinguished alumni and philanthropic institutions. The scholarships awarded to the wards with low annual parental income is 25-50 per cent of the annual fee depending upon the need of the students. Such candidates are required to provide income certificate issued by the Tehsildar or the Magistrate.
CSJM University also offers merit-based scholarships to the students who have secured a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate or CPI of 6.5 out of 10 in previous qualifying degree/ exam. Also, the applicant should have no indiscipline complaints with a minimum of 75 per cent attendance record certificate. The names of the students for scholarships are finalised by the University Committee that comprises every year. The committee comprises Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Dean Students Welfare However, the final decision lies in the hands of Vice-Chancellor of the University while sanctioning merit-based scholarships.
