Rajamouli’s 2022 magnum opus, “RRR” is creating and breaking records at the box office in Japan. The epic was released on Oct 21st and took the biggest start for an Indian film, following the biggest opening weekend, in Japan.
gThe epic action drama was released in March 2022 in India and made it big at the box office, here. It went on to become the 4th highest-grosser Indian movie of all time and the 2nd highest all-time in Telugu.

It was released in around 210 screens in Japan, including 31 IMAX screens. The movie took a record-breaking start there earning a solid Japanese¥ 18M (₹ 1.06 crores), It minted ¥65M (₹ 3.61 crores) on its 1st weekend in Japan.

It clocked in JP¥ 73M (₹ 4.05 crores) on its first week in Japan. Rajamouli’s movie opened at No.10 and was the highest non-Japanese grosser of the 1st week, the top 9 were all local Japanese movies.

As per the recent reports, Rajamouli’s RRR has touched 250M Yen in 4 weeks in Japan which is tantamount to Rs 14.52 Crs approx. It has become the fastest Indian film to achieve the feat and with this pace, it will soon cross the Baahubali 2 lifetime (JP¥ 330M) biz in Japan.

As per the trade reports, RRR recovers the distributor’s shares within 10 days completing the break-even and entering the profit phase in Japan. It is also reported that the multi-starrer enters at no.3 to become the all-time Highest grossing Indian film in Japan.
