The National Institute of Technology (NIT), an autonomous institute, is an Institute of National Importance. NIT Sikkim is recognised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The institute offers undergraduate engineering course (BTech) in various streams and postgraduate courses such as MTech, MSc and doctoral programme (PhD).

Admissions to various courses are conducted on the basis of national level entrance exams such as JEE Main for BTech, GATE for MTech and IIT JAM/IAT for MSc courses. After qualifying the exam, students also have to appear in the counseling process for admission to aforesaid courses. Courses

Placement

National Institute of Technology Sikkim has a separate Training and Placement (T&P) Cell to provide placement in reputed companies to students every year. The average package offered to students in 2019 was around Rs 8.5 LPA and the highest package was Rs 18 LPA. Some of the reputed companies that visited the campus for the recruitment process include, Capgemini, Larsen and Toubro, McAfee, IBM, Microsoft, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Intel, Huawei, etc.

Infrastructure

NIT Sikkim provides its students with several facilities and provisions all over the campus. Some of the said facilities offered by the institute are as follows:

Hostel: The institute has separate accommodation facilities for its male and female students. The rooms are well furnished and the hostel has all the necessary amenities for residents.

Library: The institute has a well-stocked library with a good collection of books, journals and online/digital reading material. The library facility can be used by students, staff and faculty for academic and research purposes.

Transportation: NIT Sikkim provides its students with good transport facility. Three buses provide commuting services to students and staff for official and medical purposes.
