The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, was founded in 1960. It is counted amongst India’s oldest technical institutions. It was formerly called Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC). This public deemed university is situated in Mangalore and is one of India’s 31 NITs.

The Indian government has recognized it as an Institute of National Importance. The premier engineering institution offers numerous PG and UG programmes in the fields of science, engineering, and management. It consists of 11 support centres and 14 academic departments. NIT Surathkal Admission Process

  • The institute offers admission to BTech programmes based on the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). This competitive exam comprises three sections on Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. The university admits students based on ranks obtained by the candidates in the JEE (mains) test. Marks obtained by the students in the class 12th exams serve as a cut-off
  • Students are admitted to the postgraduate programmes according to the score obtained by them in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), which is organized by the IIT
  • The university admits students in the MCA programme through NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET)
