The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) conducts Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) to admit Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to full-time professional courses offered by Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided institutions in the State of Karnataka.

Candidates seeking admission to Medical, Dental, Ayurveda, Unani and Homoeopathy courses should qualify National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by NTA once in a year. On the other hand, candidates who want to pursue Architecture course (BArch) must qualify NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture or JEE Main Paper-2.

Eligibility Criteria

KCET 2021 Seat Reservation Rules

Reservation for Rural Candidates15% of the Government seats will be reserved for rural candidates who have studied for ten full academic years from Class 1 to Class 10 in educational institutions situated in places in the State of Karnataka other than larger urban area, smaller urban area or transitional area
Reservation for Kannada Medium Candidates5% of the Government seats will be reserved for the Kannada medium candidates who have studied ten full academic years in Kannada medium from Class 1 to Class 10
Reservation for Ward of J&K MigrantsReservation will be given to the son / daughter of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants, who satisfy the eligibility condition and produce all the required documents at the time of document verification
Reservation of seats for Article 371 (J) Hyderabad KarnatakaThe part of the State called the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region comprising the districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary shall be regarded as the local area 70% of the available seats in every course of study in any regional University or educational institution located in the places referred above in the local area shall be reserved in favour of the local persons, in respect of such University or education institution 8% of the available seats in every course of study provided in a state wide University or a statewide educational institution be allocated among the local candidates of the Hyderabad-Karnataka Region

KCET 2021 Admission Process

The admission process of KCET includes various stages such as filling application form, download admit card, appearing in exam, result declaration and counselling. Let us know about these stages briefly below:

  • Stage 1: Fill KCET 2021 application form – The application form is released by KEA online at its official website. Aspirants seeking admission through KCET 2021 must apply and qualify the exam
  • Stage 2: Download KCET 2021 admit card – The admit card will be issued to the candidates for appearing in the exam. Candidates will be able to download it online by using their login credentials.
  • Stage 3: Appear in KCET 2021 – Candidates have to contest and qualify the exam so that they can get admission in the desired college/university of Karnataka.
  • Stage 4: KCET 2021 result declaration – KEA will declare result after a few days of conduct of the exam. Candidates who will take the exam will be able to check their result online.
  • Stage 5: KCET 2021 counselling: Counselling will be organized by KEA for seat allocation, document verification, fee payment, etc. This will be the final stage for admission and after counselling candidates will join their college.
