It has been mentored by IIT Bombay for three pioneer years. At present, the Institute is temporarily located at Goa Engineering College in Ponda, Goa. Its permanent campus is under construction on a 240-acre land at Sattari in North-Goa District.

Currently, the Institute offers three courses, namely BTech, MTech and PhD in various core and one non-core specialisations. These courses are offered through the following six schools of IIT Goa:

  • IIT Goa has two research centres called Center for Appropriate Technology for Rural Sectors (CATeRS) and Center of Excellence in Particulates, Colloids and Interfaces (CoE-PCI) which are designed to carry out multidisciplinary research to develop cutting edge technology solution for challenging industrial problems. Beyond technical, the Institute has also added various humanities disciplines such as cinema, literature, politics, music, etc., to keep students engaged besides the academics.
