The IIM Lucknow was established in 1984 and currently serves as a mentor institute for IIM Jammu, Rohtak and Kashipur. In the past, it has also mentored for IIM Sirmaur till it settled on its own. It currently offers various PG and doctoral level programmes in the field of Management. The two year, full time, residential PGP is the flagship programme of IIM Lucknow which leads to the grant of a PGDM degree after course completion.

The fourth member in the list of IIMs, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow is a public business school located in Uttar Pradesh. Ranked 4 for IIMs by NIRF 2020 and 5 for IIMs by Outlook 2020, it is recognised as an Institution of Excellence by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Admission Process

IIM Lucknow offers admission to all its courses via online mode of application. Candidates seeking admission are required to appear for the course-specific entrance exam for selection. Final admission is granted on the basis of further rounds that are inclusive of written assessment and interview. Details around course-wise IIM Lucknow admission process are as follows:

  • Final selection to PGP and PGP-ABM is subject to a qualifying score in CAT exam followed by a Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI)
  • Shortlisted candidates of PGP-SM are required to submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP), the form for which is made available online during the admission season. Final selection takes place on the basis of a valid score in CAT followed by WAT and PI rounds.
  • Admission to PGPWE is based on the scores obtained by the students in GMAT/ CAT/ XAT/ GATE/ PGPWE Entrance Exam followed by a WAT and PI round.
  • For IPMX programme, admission is offered based on GMAT scores. Further, candidates are required to go through WAT and PI after which final merit scores are calculated to offer final admission to selected candidates.

Courses

IIM Lucknow offers three PG programmes, two executive programmes and two doctoral programmes in the field of Management such as PGP, PGP-ABM, PGP-SM, PGPWE, FPM and E-FPM, among others. All the courses except for E-FPM are full-time courses. Details across top IIM Lucknow courses are as follows:

  • The two-year residential, full-time PGP is the flagship course of IIM Lucknow and is available across 10 specialisations
  • PGP-ABM and PGP-SM are also two-year residential programmes in the field of Management
  • The two-year PGPWE programme is inclusive of a two-week immersive experience at a leading business school in Europe. This international module is designed to enhance the cross-cultural experience and to offer to its students a deeper insight around overseas markets.
  • IIM Lucknow also offers a one-year International Programme in Management for Executives or IPMX (one-year MBA) at its Noida campus. This is also a residential programme.
  • At the doctoral level, IIM Lucknow offers a full-time, residential FPM programme along with a part-time, non-residential EFPM programme to the students
  • The student is expected to complete the E-FPM programme ordinarily in five years (four years in case of direct admission to the second year) but an extension is granted for a period of maximum two years so that the total duration does not exceed beyond seven years. Moreover, E-FPM is available across 12 areas out of which candidates are required to select any two.

Placements

IIM Lucknow recently concluded the placements for its 34th PGP batch with 100% results. Over 140 domestic and international recruiters participated in the placements process offering the highest domestic salary of Rs 54 LPA. It was the first year when IIM Lucknow has revealed its salary data in its official placements report. Some of the top industry giants which participated in the IIM Lucknow placements 2020, include Accenture, Amazon, American Express, Deloitte, Ernst and Young, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Investec, ITC and Uber, among others. Other major highlights from IIM Lucknow placements 2020 include:

  • A number of new recruiters also showed active participation in this year’s placements process, which include Apparel Group, Ernst & Young (MENA), FIITJEE, Bosch, JCB India, Reliance Jio, SAIF Partners, Transsion and Wells Fargo, among others
  • A total of 447 offers were made
  • The median salary offered stood at Rs 23 LPA while the average salary offered was Rs 24.25 LPA
  • Strategy/Consulting followed by Operations became the top two recruiting domains with 32% and 24% offers
  • Top International companies that participated in the placements process include Landmark, Apparel Group, RPG Group, Ernst & Young and Tolaram Group

Scholarships

IIM Lucknow offers a few need-based financial aids to make sure that no student prevented from pursuing the programme due to financial constraints. The scholarship schemes presently available under IIM Lucknow are:

  • Need-Based IIML Scholarships: This institute offers scholarships based on merit and family income. Student whose total annual gross family income (self, parents, spouse) does not exceed Rs 4 lakh are eligible for consideration of this scholarship. The awardees are chosen from eligible candidates in order of merit, for a period of one year at a time. This scholarship is awarded in the form of fee waiver.
  • Other scholarships: Students can avail various scholarships offered by various Central Government, state government and other relevant bodies. Details regarding these are available on The National Scholarship Portal or NSP and the respective state government portals.

In addition to need-based scholarships, IIM Lucknow also offers a number of grants to the students of FPM. A few details around these are as follows:

  • All residential Indian scholars are given fellowship allowance up to four and a half years
  • They are provided with a stipend amount of Rs 25,000 per month during the first and second year
  • For the rest of the programme (i.e. third year onwards), the stipend of Rs 30,000 per month is provided after completion of the comprehensive exam after the second year
  • In addition to the above grants, candidates are also provided with a contingency grant and other miscellaneous final assistance from the institute
