The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore is among the top graduate schools for Management education in Asia. Established in the year 1973, it admits over 1,200 students across several programmes every year. Foreign Collaborations
IIM Bangalore has a widespread network of partner B-schools across the globe with which it conducts its student exchange programmes. The students of two-year MBA course are sent for exchange programmes during the fifth term of their course. Over a hundred students from IIMB are exchanged in every batch for this course with over 80 global B-schools associated with it.
It also has a doctoral exchange programme available with universities and colleges, such as the National University of Singapore, University of Cologne, etc. This institute also conducts an international immersion programme of one-year for MBA candidates in the fourth term. Admission Process
IIM Bangalore admission process for the flagship MBA programme is based on the scores obtained by candidates CAT exam. International students, however, need a valid score in GMAT exam. For other courses, admission is based on valid scores in national-level entrance exams. Candidates seeking admission are required to apply online. For PGP (or MBA), candidates are required to apply via the official website of CAT while for the remaining courses, candidates are required to apply via IIM Bangalore official website. A detailed course wise admission process is mentioned below:”
- Admission to the flagship course PGP (MBA) of IIMB is based on a valid score in CAT exam followed by a PI-WAT round.
- The shortlisting criteria for its PGP (MBA) programme got changed for admission 2020 as the institute reduced its CAT cutoff score by 5 percentile for the first stage shortlisting (for each category)
- For EPGP, candidates must have a valid score in GMAT or GRE exam along with a Statement of Purpose (SOP), in which they are required to highlight their future goals and achievements
- For admission to PGPEM (2-year weekend MBA) or PGPPM (MMS in Public Policy), candidates must have a valid score in one among CAT/GMAT/GRE or IIMB test followed by a personal interview round
- PhD admission to IIM Bangalore is based on a valid score in IIMB Test conducted by IIM Bangalore. However, those with a valid score in one among GMAT, GRE, CAT, GATE or JRF (NET) can apply directly and are required to go through a compulsory interview round.
Courses
IIM Bangalore offers a wide variety of PG, doctoral, certificate and short-term executive programmes to students in the field of Management. The two-year, residential flagship MBA programme is available across 10 electives, which include Decision Sciences, Economics and Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Finance and Accounting, Information Systems, Marketing, Management Communication, Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources Management, Production & Operations Management, Public Policy and Strategy. In addition to this, this institute also offers a wide range of one-year and two-year, full-time and weekend PGP courses leading to an MBA degree.
