EWS Category 10% Reservation Quota

EWS Certificate is issued to the Indian citizen who belongs to the very economically weaker section category. It is a reservation subcategory under the general category section and came into existence in 2019. The EWS bill was approved by the President of India on January, 2019 and Gujarat is the first Indian state to implement Economically Weaker Section reservation rule successfully.

EWS category main objective is to provide a 10% reservation in recruitment in GOI Civil Services Posts and various services in the government of India, to the person who belongs to economically weaker section and doesn’t avail any other reservation facility such as SC, ST or OBC category.

EWS Criteria 2021

Indian Citizen who are not covered under any SC, ST and OBC reservation category and gross income is below 8 lakh per annum, including the family earning from all sources such as agriculture, salary, professional, business, etc is eligible for ews reservation criteria.

  • Beneficiary belongs to General Category.
  • Per annum income should be below 8 lakhs (Eight Lakh Only)
  • Agricultural Land Area Less than 5 Acres (Five Acres).
  • Residential Flat Area less than 1000 sq. feet.
  • Residential Plot Area should be less than 100 sq. yards (Notified Municipalities)

Benefit of 10% Economically Weaker Section reservation quota

The Beneficiary needs to get a Certificate of Income and Asset from the authorized government authority (Eg: Tehsildar). The reservation benefit under EWS can be availed upon the production of a certificate of Income and Asset issued by a Government Authority. The Income and Asset Certificate issued in the prescribed format shall only be admitted as proof of the candidate’s claim as belonging to Economically Weaker Section EWS.

Certificate of Income and Asset will be issued and verified by the state authorities. However, the Income and Asset certificate issuing authorities are varied but the ews application form format has been guided by the Government of India Ministry which is for all the states that will be the same.

EWS Form Offline Apply

Application of EWS Certificate can be filled online or offline mode in different Indian states. To fill EWS applications in offline mode, candidates have to follow these processes mentioned below:

  1. Visit the official website and download the EWS certificate form PDF.
  2. Fill all the details.
  3. Paste a photograph and attach all the required documents.
  4. Submit EWS form to the Tahsil/Block Officer.
  5. You can contact the nearest common service center or Jan Sewa Kendra for updates of EWS Certificate.

The EWS Form can be submitted in online or offline mode and depends upon the state government.

The information that is required to be filled in EWS form includes- Name of the state govt., Name of the applicant, name of the father/husband, address, financial year, caste, and attested passport-sized photograph.

Andhra Pradesh provides an online facility through which citizens can easily submit EWS application form. The format of EWS certificate provided by the Govt. of India is same for the entire country.

Difference between State EWS certificate and Central EWS certificate

Yes, there are two types of EWS Certificate. If your state has changed the eligibility criteria for EWS, then the state certificate would be different from the central certificate. In that case, if you apply in your state under EWS reservation, then you have to produce the state certificate and in the case for central govt, the central EWS certificate will be required.

Validity period of an EWS certificate

The validity of the Economically Weaker Section EWS Certificate depends on the state from where the beneficiary applies for the reservation.
