The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level exam conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) twice a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers in Classes 1-8. There are two CTET papers in the exam, that is, Paper-I and Paper-II. Candidates who plan to teach Classes 1-5 need to give Paper-I and candidates who plan to teach Classes 6-8 need to take Paper-II. Candidates who plan to teach Classes 1-8 need to take both the papers.

CTET 2020 Exam Date
The new CTET exam date 2020 will be released by CBSE soon. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be held on July 5 but it was postponed by CBSE keeping in mind the rising number of Coronavirus cases in the country. The news had come as a relief for CTET 2020 aspirants who were anxious and doubtful on whether to appear for the exam. CBSE had then announced that the next CTET 2020 date will be released when the situation is more conducive for conduct of the exam.
Currently, while the situation with respect to the number of COVID-19 cases across the country is worse, the revised date for CTET 2020 exam is awaited.
CTET Admit Card 2020
CTET admit card 2020 will be released about three weeks before the conduct of the exam. Earlier, the admit card was scheduled to release in the third week of June but was postponed due to the postponement of the CTET 2020 exam.
Once released, candidates can download the CTET admit card 2020 from the official website of the exam – ctet.nic.in. Candidates can download their admit card by using details such as registration/application number and date of birth/password.
CTET 2020 admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the allotted test centre. The document contains all the important information such as exam date, exam time, exam centre address, etc.
CTET Eligibility 2020
- Candidates should pass 10+2 with minimum 45 per cent aggregate marks in order to be qualified for appointment as a primary stage teacher
- Candidates should clear graduation with minimum 45 per cent aggregate marks or 10+2 with at least 50 per cent aggregate marks in order to be qualified for appointment as an elementary stage teacher
- Candidates should complete the prescribed teacher training programmes/teacher education courses

CTET Registration vs Result
Every year, over 20 lakh aspirants appear for CTET exam. In December 2019, close to 24 lakh candidates appeared for CTET out of which 5.42 lakh qualified, as per media reports. In July 2019, total 23.77 lakh aspirants took the CTET exam out of which 3.52 lakh candidates qualified.

CTET 2019 Exam Analysis
CTET 2019 paper-I was successfully conducted from 9:30 AM-12 Noon on December 8. Shiksha reported live from a CTET exam centre in Noida where approximately 600 students took the paper-I. Majority of the students shared that the difficulty level of paper-I was easy to moderate but the exam was extremely lengthy.
CTET Selection Process
CTET selection process includes the following steps:
Step 1: Fill CTET application form
Aspirants need to fill their CTET 2020 application form in online mode on the official website of the exam. Candidates also need to pay CTET application fee of Rs 1,000 (for one paper) and Rs 1,200 (for two papers).
Step 2: Download CTET admit card
Candidates can download CTET 2020 admit card from the official website of the exam. The admit card for CTET exam contains relevant details related to the aspirant and exam. It also mentions the candidate’s test centre details as well as reporting time for the exam.
Step 3: Appear for CTET exam
Aspirants need to report at their CTET exam centre at least 90 minutes before the commencement of the exam. CTET exam is of two and a half hour duration. On the exam day, two papers are conducted. Paper-I needs to be given by aspirants who want to qualify for teaching of classes I-V (primary wing). Paper-II is for candidates who want to qualify for teaching of classes VI-VIII (elementary wing).
Step 4: Check CTET result
CBSE announces CTET result on the official website of the exam. Candidates who qualify the exam get a CTET eligibility certificate. The validity of CTET eligibility certificate is seven years from the date of declaration of result.
