Tamil Nadu Electoral Roll Released 2021
The electoral roll for the upcoming assembly elections has been released by the election commission of India. For Tamil Nadu, the total number of electors in the state is 6.26 crore. Out of these 6.26 crore electors, 3.18 crore are women voters and 3.08 crore are men voters and 7200 are transgender voters. There are 234 legislative assembly seats in Tamil Nadu. The current term of government is ending on 2nd May 2021 so the elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in the month of May. On 1st January the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls was published by the election commission. The voters can visit the official website in order to verify their names in the electoral roll.
- The Shozhinganallur assembly constituency in Chengalpattu district has the highest number of voters and the lowest number of voters are in Harbour assembly constituency in Chennai. There are 6,94,845 voters in Shozhinganallur assembly constituency and 1,76,272 voters in harbour assembly constituency.
- Around 8,97,694 electors who belong to the age group 18 to 19 years throughout the state and Chennai has the highest number of such Electors. There are 49,148 electors who belong to the age group 18 to 19 years in Chennai.
- The number of overseas electors is 47. The electoral roll will continuously be updated. All those citizens who have completed 18 years of age on 1st January 2021 can apply for a voter ID card by submitting form 6 or through an online portal or through voters helpline app.
- The district contact centre will be opened in every district of Tamil Nadu in order to guide voters through the election process.
Tamil Nadu Voter List December Update
In Tamil Nadu, one-month-long revision of voter list has taken place and around 20 lakh applications for including names in voter list have been received so far. Principal parties in Tamil Nadu are making efforts to include the names of all the first time voters. All those citizens who have turned 18 years of age as on or before January 1st, 2021 are eligible to vote. All the efforts have been made to include, delete, correct and shift the names in the voter list. In 17 out of 37 districts of the state, there are more than 50000 applications received to include names in the voter list. The final voter list will be published on 20 January 2021.
Till now around 30.68 lakh applications have been received in the special campaign which was held on November 21, 2020, November 22, 2020, December 12, 2020, and December 13, 2020. The maximum number of applications received are from Chennai 1.47 lakh, Tiruvallur 1.28 lakh, Coimbatore 1.22 lakh, Chenglepet 1.03 lakh and Salem 96479.
