The Indian Institute of Management Ranchi (IIM Ranchi) was the ninth IIM established in India of all the 20 IIMs. Established in 2010, it offers numerous courses in the field of Management at postgraduate, doctoral and certificate level such as PGP, PGPHRM, PhD, CPGM among others. IIM Ranchi has a 100% placement record with the highest international package recorded at Rs 58.10 LPA in the recent placements.
Accorded as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ by the introduction of IIM Act 2017, the Institute still functions from a temporary campus in Suchana Bhavan, behind the Governor House premises in the heart of Ranchi. However, the construction of a permanent campus is taking place at about 35 kms from Ranchi at a 90.14 acres area.

Admission Process
Candidates seeking admission to any of the programmes offered by IIM Ranchi are required to fill an online application form that could be submitted online or offline. However, for the flagship programme (PGP), candidates are required to apply on the official website of CAT.
- IIM Ranchi admission to PGP is based on CAT followed by a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)
- Admission to PGDHRM is offered based on a valid score in CAT followed by WAT and PI
- Selection for PGEXP is done based on the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the institute followed by an interview
- Admission to PhD is offered is based on CAT/GATE/GRE/GMAT and NET-JRF (UGC/CSIR) exams followed by a personal interview

Placement & Salary Trends
PGP placements at IIM Ranchi recorded a slight dip in the average package that stood at Rs 15.02 LPA with a 40% increase in the batch size in the recent session (2019). Even with a slight dip in the average package, the institute managed to place 100% of its PGP and PGPHRM batch. The institute saw participation of over 80 first-time recruiters for PGP and PGPHRM.
The highest number of students were placed in Sales and Marketing sector (32%), followed by IT with 22% of the total students and Finance with 20% offers. The highest package for PGP shot up to Rs 26 LPA in 2019. Some of the reputed industry names that participated the students of this college include Samsung, Deloitte, ICICI Bank, Accenture, Flipkart, IBM, Tata Motors among various others.
IIM Ranchi Infrastructure Facility
With almost a decade working in the industry, IIM Ranchi still does not have a permanent campus. However, its permanent campus is under construction at an area of 90.14 acres. A few more infrastructural facilities are mentioned below:
Classrooms: The academic block of IIM Ranchi consists of six state-of-the-art designed classrooms equipped with all the required facilities. It aids the students by providing them with a better understanding of concepts and gives an edge because students are able to visualise the concepts being taught.
Hostels: The student block of this institute was recently shifted to the residential block of the sports village, Khelgaon, located in the outskirts of Ranchi. Its housing facility is at par with the best in the world with separate blocks for girls and boys. Also, the hostel has a fully Wi-Fi enabled campus with a mix of three and four-bedroom shared flats that are fully furnished. Each block consists of a mess and a canteen which remain open for approximately 20 hours a day and a medical dispensary.
Library: The library at IIM Ranchi provides a wide variety of both in-house and network-based services. The electronic resources subscribed by the library are accessible to the users through the Institute’s network with its functions and services are fully automated.
IT Labs: Every computer available in the computer labs of IIM Ranchi has Windows 7 and is equipped with antivirus along with a laser printer and scanner. The academic block is internally connected through Wi-Fi as well as wired LAN (10 Mbps 1:1 internet bandwidth provided by RailTel) to support round the clock access to the network resources.
