The university is a founding member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities. Originating from Hartley Institution in 1862, Southampton got the university status in 1952.

The University of Southampton offers undergraduate, postgraduate and foundation year courses in various disciplines. The different departments of the university include the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Faculty of Environmental and Life Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Social Sciences.   • University offers a wide variety of rooms in our halls of residence to suit every student’s needs and budget
  • University has a total of ten halls of residence
  • Students can choose from two catering options available at halls of residence – part-catered or self-catered. Part-catered means that during term-time student would get breakfast and the main meal later in the day, on weekdays only (Monday – Friday)
  • Guaranteed accommodation is offered to international students who are registered for full- time program
  • University offers various  facilities to students like common rooms, laundrettes, computer rooms, barbeque and social areas and much more
  • Accommodation fee includes utilities like gas, water, electricity, wi-fi, meals are not included
  • Accommodation fee below is for PG students It includes only accommodation fee
