The effect from December 1, 2019, all vehicles in the country need to have a FASTag. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has stated that vehicles that do not have FASTag will have to pay twice the toll fees at toll plazas across the country.
FASTag can be purchased from authorised toll plazas, banks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank as well as the Airtel Payments Bank and Paytm etc.The HDFC Bank has been authorised to sell FASTag via online (through its official website) and offline (through selective branches). How to buy HDFC FASTag online?
1) Open the official website of HDFC and click on the FASTag link
2) It will redirect to the HDFC FASTag page. Next, click on ‘Apply Now’ link available on top of the page
3) In case you have an HDFC Bank Savings Account, enter your customer ID and verification code sent to your mobile number. In case you don’t have an HDFC Savings Bank Account, you need to fill your name, number, email ID, address, PAN number, ID card etc. and enter OTP sent to your mobile number.
4) After verifying the account, enter the amount you need to load in FASTag prepaid wallet
5) Review your application before final submission
How to buy HDFC FASTag offline
Visit the HDFC Bank’s authorised agent sales offices or Point of Sales (POS) locations to get your FAStag account created. You need to submit a photocopy of your KYC documents along with the application form. After the account has been created, the bank will provide a FASTag which you need to affix on your car’s windscreen.

- Vehicle owner’s passport-size photograph
