The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi (IIIT Delhi or IIIT D) is a state-level institute that was established in 2008 with its first batch of 60 students. The main campus of the institute is located in Okhla and it is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and accredited by the NAAC with Grade ‘A’. IIIT Delhi is funded by Government of Delhi and it ensures administrative and academic autonomy. In addition to this, there are 24 active student-driven clubs to encourage active participation of students in various extra-curricular and sports activities. The campus of the institute is built over 25 acre, comprising an academic complex with 10 lecture halls and eight research labs. At present, there are three hostels, two for the boys having 508 and 394 beds, respectively and another for the girls with 404 seats. Also, there are 22 additional hostel accommodations available for married PhD students. In addition to this, IIIT Delhi has four guest rooms within the campus for accommodating the visitors. As the institute also promotes design courses under its BTech CSE branch, IIIT Delhi has a Design & Innovation lab that offers a unique opportunity to the students for prototyping their ideas. Currently, there are 334 BTech and 197 MTech students who are pursuing their degrees from IIIT Delhi.

Admission Process
IIIT Delhi application process for BTech generally starts from September with JEE Main registrations whereas MTech admissions, begin in March. Candidates seeking admission to IIIT Delhi’s respective programmes must apply on the official website of the relevant examination. JAC Counselling is the official selection round conducted by this institute for seat allotment of the shortlisted students. IIIT Delhi admission process for the various programmes is listed in a brief below:
- IIIT Delhi BTech admission (except BTech CSSS) is based on a candidate’s score in JEE Main, followed by JAC Counselling
- Admission to BTech CSSS programme is based on UCCED score, followed by JAC Counselling
- For admission to the MTech programme (except MTech CB), candidates are required to qualify GATE with a valid score, followed by an institute-level Personal Interview (PI) round
- MTech CB admission is based on GATE/ GPAT/ CSIR NET score, followed by candidate’s performance in PI round

The institute offers eight courses in various streams, including Engineering, Design, Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and IT and Software, with diverse specialisations. BTech is the flagship programme of IIIT Delhi and it is a four-year programme. The duration of the MTech programme is two years. As per the curriculum of the institute, the students have to study all the core courses along with one elective subject (as per student’s preference) and complete the programme-specific credits every semester to be eligible for the degree. Chairman’s Merit Scholarship for top BTech aspirants, admitted through JAC Counselling:
Any Delhi student with a JEE Main rank less than 2,000, seeking admission at IIIT Delhi through JAC Counselling is entitled to a scholarship of Rs 1.25 LPA for four years, provided that the student maintains a CGPA of 8.5 or above. These students are not eligible for the income-linked fee waiver scheme of the scholarships.
