The University of Jammu was established in 1969 under Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969. It came into existence after the bifurcation of the University of Jammu and Kashmir. For many years now, the University of Jammu is known as a research, teaching, affiliating and examining body. It is affiliated to UGC and accredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ Grade.
Over fifty government and non-government colleges are affiliated to the University of Jammu. The University has eight offsite campuses, over 8,400 students and 326 faculty members.
The University of Jammu offers various courses in streams including, Science, Commerce, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Law, Hospitality and Tourism.
It also has a UGC-approved Directorate of Distance Education where students can opt for part-time courses such as BA, BCom, MA, MCom and MBA.

Admission Process
Interested candidates can apply for admission to various UG and PG courses offered by the University of Jammu. Applicants can download the admission form online or purchase the same from the admission office of the University.
For a majority of courses offered by the University of Jammu, admission is based on marks scored in JUET conducted by the University. Appearing for JUET is mandatory if a candidate wants to pursue any UG or PG course, but for PGDM programme, CAT, MAT or CMAT score is required.
