The Chandigarh University (CU) was established by the Punjab State Legislature in 2012. It is the only private university in India to bag ‘A+’ Grade by the NAAC in the first cycle of the accreditation process and the only state private university of Punjab to be accredited by the NAAC. The University is approved by the UGC and the AICTE. It has also received a major certification with QS I GAUGE E-LEAD (E-Learning Excellence for Academic Digitisation) which authorizes CU to conduct online teaching and learning.
Additionally, it is the first university in India to hold the Limca Book of Records for having the highest number of companies during campus placements in 2017. Furthermore, CU is the first university in North India to possess over 275 partnerships with top-ranking international universities and institutions from nearly 50 nations, including the USA, Europe, Canada, Australia, Russia, UK and many others. Approximately 550 international students are admitted to the University every year.
The University offers approximately 180 courses in several streams, such as Engineering, Management, Commerce, Pharmacy, Law, etc., at UG, PG and PhD level. It also offers industry-collaborated MBA programmes with reputed organisations, such as IBM, upGrad, TCS, SBI, Virtusa, SHRM, etc. Presently, these courses are offered through 18 on-campus institutes running under the headship of CU. Admission Process
Chandigarh University admission to all the UG and PG courses is based on a candidate’s performance in the University-conducted entrance exam called CUCET. It is held in three phases, namely CUCET-I (Gold Phase), CUCET-II (Silver Phase) and CUCET-III (Bronze Phase). The University also offers scholarships based on a candidate’s score in this online exam. The application window for CU admission generally opens in January every year. Candidates can fill and submit the application form online through CU’s official website against a payment of Rs 1,000. Alternatively, applicants may purchase the brochure and application form from CU admission offices/ authorised centres. - Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12 from a recognised board in the relevant subjects

Courses
The University offers a plethora of courses in multiple streams such as Engineering, Management, Law, IT, etc. These courses are offered at UG, PG and PhD level. Apart from the regular courses, the University also offers integrated programmes, distance education, job-oriented programmes and industry-collaborated programmes. Admission to all Chandigarh University courses is conducted through CUCET. An additional round of Group Discussion and Personal Interview is held as a part of the selection process to the MBA programme. The duration of all UG programmes ranges from three to four years, depending upon the nature of their course curriculum. On the other hand, Integrated and PG programmes are offered for a duration of five and two years, respectively. Unlike most institutions, CU does not restrict its students to one or two companies. The students are rather encouraged to grab multiple offers out of core companies and interdisciplinary branch selection process.
In 2019-20, the University witnessed a growth of 30% in the number of MNCs visiting the campus for recruitment. Not just this, the number of students having multiple offer letters has also seen a growth of 24% this year. More than 690 companies visited the University to hire fresh talent and made over 6,600 offers, with Rs 35 LPA being the highest package offered. Scholarships
Chandigarh University has a loan assistance cell to enable the students to obtain loans from banks with which it has tie-ups. Students can also seek financial help from a government-run education loan portal called ‘Vidya Lakshmi’, which is a single platform where students can avail information on loans offered by 34 banks. Besides, the University provides financial aid to all the students aspiring to pursue UG and PG courses at CU. Apart from these, the University offers various scholarship schemes for those seeking fresh admission in various programmes. 1. COVID-19 Warriors Scholarship Scheme
The University has introduced 10% reservation of seats in all the UG and PG programmes for the wards of COVID-19 Warriors, such as Policemen, Doctors, Nurses, Media professionals, etc. Scholarship worth Rs 5 crore would be disbursed and a fee rebate of 10% will be offered to the students admitted under this scheme.
2. CUCET Scholarship
The University’s common entrance exam CUCET comes with double benefits. Apart from the admission offer, CU disburses scholarships worth Rs 27 crore to the meritorious students under this scheme.
3. Merit Scholarship Schemes

4. Scholarship scheme for the wards of Defence Personnel
CU offers Armed Forces Educational Welfare Scheme (AFEWS) for the wards or spouse of the Defence Personnel. Under this scheme, five per cent seats in all the courses are reserved for the wards and spouses of Defence Martyrs and their immediate dependent members. Those admitted under this scheme are also given the benefit of freeship in prescribed semester fee. Concessions are applicable as follows:
- 15% concession of the annual fee for the war widows and wards of war causalities, war-injured and released defence personnel, spouse and their wards, war-disabled defence personnel, getting superannuated, spouse and their wards
- 10% concession of the annual fee for the wards/ spouse of serving and retired defence personnel
- 10% concession of the annual fee for the wards/ spouse of paramilitary forces personnel
Defence officers in service, who want to pursue a course during their study leave, are separately offered one per cent seats subject to a minimum of one seat in each course. A fee concession of 20% is also given per semester fee.
5. Scholarship for the family members of Chandigarh University staff
The wards/ spouse of CU staff, who has worked at least one year at the University, are offered 50% concession in academic fees. It continues until the staff member is working with the University.
