The India’s former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru founded the National Institute of Technology at Warangal in 1959. Previously the college was known as Regional Engineering College. NIT Warangal is the first amongst the 30 NITs established in the country. The NIT Warangal have seminar halls, Mega Computer Centre, auditorium, Indoor Games Complex, Central Library, stadium, student activity centre, and about 100 laboratories.
NIT Warangal offers eight undergraduate programmes in different disciplines of engineering and it also provides about 29 postgraduate programmes in business administration, computer application, sciences, and engineering. The institute also offers PhD programmes in management, engineering, humanities, sciences, and physical education.

National Institute of Technology, Warangal Admission Process
A candidate has to qualify the JEE (Mains) Exam for taking admission into the undergraduate programmes in engineering. There is a central seat allocation board made by the government of India who analyses the marks obtained by the candidates in the 12th standard exam and JEE (Mains) exam.
For non-resident Indians, foreign nationals and persons of Indian origin, the admission takes place according to the rules and regulations of Direct Admission of Students Abroad scheme. The scheme has been formulated by MHRD, Government of India for admission into undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture to IITs, NITs and any other technical educational institute funded by the central government. For admission into postgraduate programmes in engineering, the scores obtained in GATE exam are considered.
For MCA, the institute conducts an entrance test and a merit list is prepared accordingly. For MBA, the institute considers the marks obtained in the CAT or MAT exam. The selected candidates are then called for group discussion and personal interview. For taking admission into M.Sc. courses, one has to secure qualifying marks in JAM exam.

National Institute of Technology, Warangal Scholarships
The Institute provides scholarship opportunities to its students. It is awarded both to meritorious students and students who do not come from an economically privileged background. In 2019, the B. Tech students whose family income is less than 1,00,000 rupees per annum has been allowed a full remission of fees and the students whose family income falls within the range of 1,00,000- 5,00,000 rupees per annum has been allowed a two-third remission of fees.
