The Gujarat Technological University (GTU), is a state private university that was established in 2007 in Gandhinagar. It has a total of 486 affiliated institutes under its name operating in five areas that are Vallabh Vidyanagar, Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Surat and Gandhinagar. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
University offers UG, PG, PhD, diploma and certificate programmes in various fields such as Engineering, Arts, Science, Architecture, Pharmacy, Computer Application and more. It has three constituent institutes, namely Graduate School of Pharmacy, Graduate School of Management Studies and Graduate School of Engineering & Technology. Apart from the regular programmes, it also offers conventional courses, personality development program and e-courses.
GTU has the largest International Experience Program in collaboration with the universities of the US, Canada, China and Germany, which offer a unique opportunity to the students to enhance their capabilities from a global perspective. It also offers Contributor Personality Development Program and the Bridge Course to nurture skills of the students along with the technical knowledge. GTU Admission Process
The University offers more than 20 UG, PG, PhD, diploma and certificate courses under various streams. Admission to UG and PG courses is done online through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), whereas admission to diploma programmes is done through the Admission Committee for Professional Diploma Courses (ACDPC). PhD admissions are carried out by GTU directly. Candidates need to register online on the official website of the University. The course-wise details regarding GTU admissions are mentioned below:
UG Courses
- BE admissions are based on JEE Main/ GUJCET scores
- A valid score in NATA is required for admission to BArch programme
- BPharm and PharmD admission is based on NEET/ GUJCET scores
- Admission to BHMCT and BVoc is done on merit-basis
- Candidates, who have completed Class 12 from a recognised board, can apply for UG courses
PG Courses
- Admission to ME is based on GATE/ GPAT/ PGCET scores
- A valid score in CMAT is required for admission to MBM and MBA programmes
- Admission to MPharm and MCA is done on merit-basis
- A candidate must have completed graduation in the relevant stream to apply for PG programmes
PhD Course
- PhD admissions are based on UGC NET scores
- Candidates, who have completed master’s from a recognised university, can apply for PhD programme
Integrated Course
- Admission to Integrated MBA and Integrated MCA is done on merit-basis
- Candidates, who have completed Class 12 and diploma in the relevant stream, are eligible to apply for integrated courses
Additional Courses
- Admission to DPharm, DVoc, diploma and certificate courses is merit-based
- Candidates, who have completed Class 12 from a recognised board, can apply for additional courses

Admission to most of the programmes is entrance-based, whereas admission to diploma, certificate and some of the UG & PG programmes is done on merit-basis. GTU Placements
The University has an Integrated Training and Placement Cell that is known as I-TAP. The cell coordinates with the companies for placement drives. The placement process begins in September every year. In 2019, the average salary package offered was Rs 1.5 LPA, whereas the highest salary package was Rs 3.45 LPA.
