The Rajasthan University was established in 1947 and was formerly known as Rajputana University. It is one of the oldest university in Rajasthan. The University is a complete hub of Higher Education in Rajasthan and attracts students from all over Rajasthan, other parts of India and also from abroad. Uniraj has nine faculty, 37 departments, 18 research centres, and 546 affiliated colleges. The departments of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Philosophy have been awarded the status of UGC Centre for Advanced Studies.
Uniraj has been recognised by UGC as the University with Potential Excellence (UPE) amongst the top 15 Indian Universities with Potential of Excellence in 2012. Uniraj faculty have established International linkages and undertaken collaborative programmes with research Institutes and Universities in countries such as USA, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Australia, Canada, Japan, UK, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Finland and France.
Uniraj offers BTech, MA, MCom, and MPhil in various specialisations. Furthermore, it also offers certificate programmes in French language, entrepreneurship, medical astrology, German language, and Spanish language, and doctoral programmes in law, botany, visual arts, English, Hindi, philosophy, Sanskrit, education and management.

Admission Process
Uniraj admission process has distinct eligibility criteria for each of the courses. The eligible candidates need to fill up the application and submit it. Admission takes place based on merit and based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by the University. For entrance examination, candidates need to carry their admit card which they can download from the official website of the university. - For admissions to Uniraj PG programmes other than MBA, candidates need to have a bachelor’s degree in the required discipline as mentioned at the university website, positive score in the entrance examination conducted by the University and based on the rank in the merit list
- Admissions to Uniraj MBA programme is based on the marks obtained in PIMMAT
- Admission to Uniraj LLM is based on the marks obtained in the entrance examination conducted by university and rank in the merit list (merit list will be based on the qualifying exam only)
- For admission to BA LLB (Hons)-five year integrated programme, the candidate must appear for the entrance examination as conducted by the university
