The Karolinska Institutet is the largest center for medical education and research in Sweden. It is among the best medical universities in the world. The prestigious institute was established in 1810 by King Karl XIII for the training of army surgeons. The university is in the mission to endeavor better health for all through advanced knowledge of the human body. Notably, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Medicine or Physiology since 1901.
