The University of California, San Diego Established in 1903, is an open research university associated with the AAU. The UC Regents approved the degree programs offered by the university in the field of Science and Technology in 1956. UCSD is part of the statewide University of California system, along with other 9 semi-autonomous public institutions. Also, the University of California, San Diego is one of the US Public Ivy colleges, whose aim is to provide quality education to students that can be found in Ivy League’s private colleges. Economics, Computer Science, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are some of the popular majors offered by the university.

UCSD includes 3 graduate colleges, 2 medical centers, and 6 undergraduate schools. It also includes the renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the largest geological and marine science institute in the world. The Scripps Institution established in 1960 is the seventh oldest of the ten University of California campuses.

The undergraduate program comprises of about 125 courses categorized into 6 departments, namely Engineering, Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Science, Mathematics and Arts, and Humanities. The postgraduate degree program currently includes more than 8,037 students and it includes 35 courses and the doctoral level program has 47 courses along with 5 professional programs. Moreover, the field of Engineering and Computer Science became the most significant degree programs offered by the university. These are amongst the top courses in the academic structure of the university. In addition, the curriculum involves around 100 specialized and professional certificate programs. The university is accredited by the WASC.
