The Carnegie Mellon University is a private and global research university in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Andrew Carnegie founded the university as Carnegie Technical Schools in 1900 and it became Carnegie Institute of Technology granting four-year degrees in the year 1912. It was united in the year 1967 with the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research to establish Carnegie Mellon University. Now, it has transformed into international university granting degrees in various locations including the campus in Silicon Valley and as well as international campuses in Qatar, Africa and Australia.

Carnegie Mellon University has independent schools and seven colleges that all offers interdisciplinary programmes including the College of Engineering, Dietrich College of Social Science and Humanities, Mellon College of Science, College of Fine Arts, the School of Computer Science, H. John Heinz III College of Information Systems and Public Policy, and Tepper School of Business. Carnegie Mellon University has five libraries namely the Hunt Library, Qatar Library, the Mellon Institute Library, the Roger Sorrells Science & Engineering Library and the Posner Center.
