The University of Pennsylvania, also known as Penn University, is a private Ivy League research institution which was founded in the year 1740. Situated in the University City neighbourhood of Philadelphia, it is recognized as one of the oldest institutions of advanced education in the USA. Founded by Benjamin Franklin, it is amongst the nine colonial colleges created before the announcement of freedom. Much of Penn’s structure was designed by the Cope and Steward Son firm, with a core campus covering over 299 acres of area.
The university maintains four undergraduate schools which provide a combined 99 undergraduate programmes in sciences, business, humanities, and natural engineering. Providing a combine undergraduate graduation rate of 96 percent for six years, it also maintains 12 graduate and professional schools. It provides the option to practice specialized dual degree programs.
