IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS- Eligible candidates are to register online through separate tabs available for AFCAT Entry/ NCC Special Entry/Meteorology Entry. Candidates eligible for one/more entries are to register separately in each entry.-Tattoos. The policy on permanent body tattoos is as follows:- (a) Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any other body part either visible or non-visible part, except on the Inner face of forearms i.e. from Inside of the elbow to the wrist of both the hands and Reverse side of the palm / back (dorsal) side of both hands for which a candidate will be required to sign a Self-declaration Certificate. Small innocuous tattoos that are not prejudicial to good order and military discipline, are permitted e.g. religious symbols or names of near and dear ones.(b) Tribes with tattoo marks on the face or body as per their existing customs and traditions will be permitted on a case to case basis. |
Age Limit:
(a) Flying Branch. 20 to 24 years as on 01 January 2023 i.e. born between 02 January 1999 to 01 January 2003 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 year i.e. born between 02 January 1997 to 01 January 2003 (both dates inclusive).
(b) Ground Duty (Technical/ Non-Technical) Branches. 20 to 26 years as on 01 January 2023 i.e. born between 02 January 1997 to 01January 2003 both dates inclusive).
Salary Details:
1. Flying Officer (Rank) – Rs. 56100 – 177500/- |
Pay on Commissioning (As per 7th CPC).
Note. Flight Cadets shall receive a fixed stipend of Rs 56,100/- per month during one year of training.
Indian Air Force AFCAT 01/2022 Selection Process 2022:
If you have successfully cleared Step 1, you will receive a Call letter to report to any one of the Air Force Selection Boards located at Dehradun, Varanasi, Gandhinagar and Mysuru. At the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB), you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer in the Indian Air Force.
Stage I Testing :- Officer Intelligence rating Test.- Picture perception and Discussion Test.STAGE-I is a screening test. Those who qualify STAGE-I are eligible to undergo STAGE-II testing. STAGE-I disqualified candidates are routed back after announcement of results. |
Stage II Testing:All Stage-I qualified candidates undergo following tests as part of STAGE-II testing during next four to five days. Fifth day is for CPSS testing (Flying branch).-Psychological Tests are written tests that are conducted by a Psychologist.- Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of mental and physical work.- Interview involves a personal conversation with an Interviewing Officer.- Candidates who have applied for flying branch and have been recommended, will also have to undergo Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS) test .These tests will be explained to you in detail before they are conducted at the Selection Board. |
Step 3 – Conduct Of Medical Examinations:If you are recommended by the Selection Board, you will be sent for the medical examination either at Air Force Central Medical Establishment (AFCME), New Delhi or Institute of Aviation Medicine, Bengaluru. |
Step 4 – Preparing All India Merit List:An All India Merit List is compiled on the basis of your performance in the written test and AFSB interview, subject to being medically fit. Based on the vacancies available in various branches / sub branches, joining instructions are issued to join one of the Training establishments. |

Conduct of Online Testing for AFCAT Examination and Fee Structure: Online testing will be conducted for AFCAT entry at various centers. Candidates registering for AFCAT entry will have to pay an amount of Rs. 250/- (non-refundable) as examination fee. However, candidates registering for NCC Special entry and Meteorology are not required to pay. Details of conduct of exam, examination centers and mode of payment are available in the notification.
